80th birthday

So it was my mum's 80th birthday and it took a while to find my inspiration but here's what I came up with. The flowers are from aunty Sarah's bloomers, lettering using my cricut machine, the butterfly die was a magazine freebie and the background was from spellbinders elegant labels four, woodware daisy punch and marianne creatables flourishes. Paper and card from my stash......!

Mum loved it as much as I loved making it.

Here's a cute crochet penguin cushion based on a design by Ilaria Chiaratti (www.idainteriorlifestyle.com). I really enjoyed making this. You can see this and some of our other handmade gifts and cards in our Etsy shop.

Sizzix owl

A friend asked if I would make a card for his granddaughter and here it is. It's the first time I've used this die and I'm really pleased with the result. Think this is going to become a regular feature in my  cards.

A new experience...............

Until now I've just made cards for my family and friends and shared a few of them with the outside world on Pinterest.  Not quite sure why but now feels like a good time to do something more. So here it is - my very first blog!

I love crafting cards.  I started by helping my daughter when she got into it about 8 years ago - I just used to stick the greeting bits on back then!  I really didn't think I had it in me to be the slightest bit artistic but she gave me a push and I've been hooked ever since.

Like most crafters I spend my spare time looking for more stuff - somehow I've just never got enough and when I see a card design I like then I must have what's needed to make it!

I'm digging up some of my old crafting skills too trying to see what else I am capable of! It's great to see that hand knitted and crocheted stuff is trending right now and even better is that I don't seem to have forgotten how to do either of them.

So today is birthday card day - looking to try out my new spellbinders adorning squares dies.  Guess the the outcome will end up on here at some stage so watch this space!
